Secunderabad: Prospects of nala overflow giving jitters
Secunderabad: As the monsoon is round the corner, residents of SCB ward - 5 are worried about the flooding and overflowing of the sewage water from an open nala. The locals urge the officials of Secunderabad Cantonment Board to take up desilting of nala works. Areas including Vasavi Nagar, Krishna Nagar Colony Gruhalaxmi colony, Brook Bond Colony, Jyothi Colony, Vasavi B Colony are affected due to the flooding of the nala.
"As every time during monsoon the entire area is flooded with sewage water, locals face problems in commuting on the road because of unpleasant stench emanating from sewage water. It requires desilting every three months, but the authorities concerned have not taken it up for over a year.
Many a time we have submitted written pleas to the Board officials, but no action has been taken. Once again as the monsoon season is fast approaching, so it is causing a serious concern to the residents. The SCB must address this perennial problem and desilt the nala as soon as possible," said Arunjyothi, a social worker and resident of Vasavi Nagar.
"It is a perennial problem. During every rainy season, this nala overflows and water enters houses. The authorities should very soon take up desilting work so that it would give relive to many residents residing over here," demanded Dr Ahuja, the secretary of Vasavi B Colony. "Every time it rains, the water from the open nala overflows in the lane and main reason for this is as garbage is being dumped in the nala and clogging it.
It is unbearable when sewage overflows on the lane and also enters nto our houses. The officials concerned should clean the drain every week during monsoon month," observed Manohar Lal, a resident of Krishna Nagar Colony.
