Secunderabad: Super thermal project to commence in 2022
Secunderabad: The Telangana Super Thermal power project which has been taken up by NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) in Ramagundam would be commissioned in the early 2022, the corporation's Regional Executive Director (South) CV Anand announced on Wednesday.
Addressing the annual press conference, the official said that the first phase thermal power project with 800 MW installed capacity would be commissioned in January 2022 and the second phase with another 800 MW capacity will start generating power from March next year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the project sanctioned to Telangana in August 2016.
Anand said that the works at the project site are going in full swing and a sewage treatment plant with 3.5 millon litres per day (MLD) has already been commissioned at the project site.
Explaining the achievements registered and the initiatives taken by the NTPC in the current financial year, Anand said that the 100 MW floating solar PV project in Ramagundam is expected to be commissioned by May this year.
The corporation also developed 'Geo Polymer Aggregates' as a replacement to natural aggregates using fly ash. The new geo polymers would not only increase ash utilisation but also save the environment, he added.
To enrich the environment, NTPC Telangana project has planted more than 80,000 trees in Peddapalli district under Telanganaku Harithaharam in 2019-20.
Satellite imagery studies conducted by the NRSA( National Remote Sensing Agency) at Ramagundam had revealed that afforstration on a large scale has also helped in vast ecological gains mainly in the increase of the forest density , reduction in extend of wasteland and temperature and increase in average rainfall.
