Asifabad: Cotton Corporation of India will start cotton procurement at 14 centres in Asifabad district, stated Joint Collector P Rambabu.

In a statement released here on Thursday, he explained that six procurement centres in Asifabad, two in Wankidi, four in Kondapalli cross roads, one each in Jainoor and Koutal – total 14 ginning mills and asked the farmers to bring standard cotton to the ginning mills to get minimum support price (MSP).

CCI will pay Rs 5,550 to cotton with eight per cent moister content. The farmers were also told not to sell their produce to middlemen or private traders. The government procurement centres will be available from November 15, he added.

The JC told the licenced private traders to purchase cotton according to the government price and serious action will be taken on those, who will cheat the farmers.

He told the farmers to bring Aadhar card, Pattadar passbook, bank account Xerox copies and originals to the procurement centres. Stating that after selling their produce, the amount will be deposited in the farmers' bank accounts, the JC wanted every farmer to utilise the opportunity.
