SFI, DYFI seek 30 lakh aid to kin of dead students in Khammam

Khammam: The activists of Students Federation of India and Democratic Youth Federation of India on Tuesday burnt an effigy of State government over its failure to arrest the people involved in the Inter results goof-up issue.

The agitating members organised a protest against the Intermediate examination results fiasco wherein they demanded the resignation of Education Minister G Jagadhish Reddy and Intermediate Board secretary. Their peaceful protest later came to an end with police arresting several protesters.

The student leaders demanded Rs 30 lakh ex gratia to the bereaved families. The leaders of CPM party from Khammam have demanded the resignation of Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy for his inefficiency and failure to oversee the evaluation of Intermediate examination.

The student leaders alleged that the government did not react appropriately to the suicides of 23 students and the incident happened because of gross negligence by the Intermediate board and the government failure to oversee and manage the board.

SFI district president CH Ramesh, DYFI district leader Upender Naik, SFI district vice-president Ashok, Hemanth and other student leaders participated in this protest held at Saritha Clinic centre circle.
