Singareni plays big role in success of Haritha Haram: CMD NSridhar
Kothagudem: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is playing a key role in the success of State Government's flagship programme Haritha Haram, said the CMD NSridhar here on Wednesday.
The corporate office of SCCL released a note about the programme here in Kothagudem. SCCl is planting one crore saplings every year under the Telangana Haritha Haram programme and this year also it is planning one core saplings under the scheme, it said.
The company not just plants the saplings but also takes care of them. He also called all the Singarenians and officials and their families to participate in the Haritha Haram programme this year and make it a grand success.
The CMD also explained the details of the programme and how the company is supporting the same. He said, 70 lakh saplings in 12 nurseries across the six districts are already kept ready. Arrangements are being made to procure balance 30 lakh saplings from the other nurseries this year, he added.
Sridhar said, the SCCL has been participating in this huge environment protection drive since 2015. The company planted 40.08 lakh saplings in an area of 848.5 hectors in 2015. In 2016, it planted nearly 90.31 lakh saplings in 819 hectors. Intensifying its participation, the company planted one crore sapling in 811 hectors and in 2018, 90.31 lakhs sapling were planted by the company in 588 hectors, he added.
This year the company has planned to plant one crore saplings, he informed. Not only planting trees, free distribution of saplings is also continuing by the company since past several years. The saplings of mango, guava, orange and other fruits are planted in the nearby areas of the company, he said and added that the company is playing in protection of protection of environment in the State.
