Six from Karimnagar killed as car crashes into parked lorry

Karimnagar: Six members of a family died on the spot when the car they are travelling in rammed into a stationary lorry on NH-16 at Mocherla village in Gudluru mandal near Tettu on Friday morning.

According to police, the family of Vaggampalli Vamsi of Bhagyanagar in Karimnagar, Telangana, started from home on Thursday to visit Vijayawada and Tirumala in Honda City car with registration number TS02EW1112.

On Friday morning, they visited Kanakadurga temple and started to Tirumala. The car hit a lorry parked on roadside at Mocherla.

Vamsi, 38, who was driving the car, died on the spot seat along with his wife Archana, 36, son Krishanth, 4, father-in-law Kompalli Madhava Rao, 62, retired AE in TS government, mother-in-law Leela, 52. Vamsy's other son, Advaith, 5, breathed his last in a private hospital in Nellore while undergoing treatment.

The national highway officials and police reached the spot immediately and pulled the car out of the lorry.

They tried to save the life of the injured boy Advaith by shifting him to a hospital in Kavali and then to Nellore, but their efforts went in vain.

Due to the impact of the crash, the police suspect overspeeding might be the reason for the accident.
