Incomplete drainage system works at Tower Circle area in Karimnagar city

Karimnagar: Lok Satta Udyama Samstha (LSUS) district unit president N Srinivas alleged that the development works under Smart City Project at Tower Circle, located at the heart of Karimnagar city, are going on at a snail's pace.

In a statement released here on Tuesday, N Srinivas stated the municipal authorities boasted that the ancient and historic heritage structure of Tower Circle area will be transformed beautifully like that of Amritsar under Smart City Project and inaugurated the works eight months ago. But due to lack of commitment by the officials, the works at Tower Circle area are going on very slow. With pits and no space for parking, not only the people, who are running shops in the busy area, but also consumers and regular commuters are facing a lot of problems.

Srinivas said that during the Nizam rule, the historical heritage Tower Circle structure with a watch in it was built by the then Collector Hunter in 1928. The clock used to tell time with striking bell sounds for every hour. The municipal officials, who promised the people of beautification of Tower Circle, have destroyed the busy commercial centre by digging roads improperly, he alleged. Vegetable, fruit vendors, hawkers and traders encroached the main road from Gunj High School to Sri Venkateswara temple posing problems to the road users, but the officials are not in a mood to take necessary steps to relocate hawkers and fruit vendors.

Srinivas along with LSUS representatives R Chandra Prabhakar, KS Narayana, T Gangarao, Syed Muzafar, M Gangadhar, Mohan and Kondal Rao demanded the municipal authorities to speed up Smart City works at Tower Circle area and relocate the vendors and hawkers clearing the encroachment on the road along with arranging parking facility.
