Karimnagar: Everyone must strive hard for conserving every drop of water by constructing soak pits and must participate in 'Conservation of Water Resources Movement', appealed Mohammad Azam, the founder-president of Dharti Bachavo Organisation.
The organisation conducted as awareness programme on conservation of water resources with a slogan 'construct soaking pits in every house and conserve water at Ambedkar Stadium here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Azam said water is one of the essential natural resource available for the sustenance of mankind. "If we don't take steps now for conserving water resources, we have to face water crisis in near future and even wars will occur between countries for the sake of water, which makes everyone to suffer," he added.
The society and the government must immediately take necessary steps for conservation of water resources. By constructing soak pits in every house, large amounts of water can be conserved along with increasing ground-water levels. Everyone should feel that it is their responsibility to pass on water resources to the next generations, he suggested.
Organisation general secretary Ontelu Madhu said large amounts of water, which flows waste on ground, could be harvested for increasing ground-water levels with the construction of soak pits.
When ground-water level increases, tress will get sufficient water and thus green cover increases, which in turn purifies air with large intake of carbon dioxide. This decreases global warming, a major problem of the world.
The organisation members Riyaz, Waseem, Jayakrishna and Rama Krishna and others participated in the programme.
