Social activists of Secunderabad serving needy during the lockdown

Social activists and individuals have taken up various initiatives to help the poor and needy people by serving ration kits, cooked food packets and vegetables in Secunderabad Cantonment limits.

Secunderabad: Amidst the nationwide lockdown in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, many social activists and individuals have taken up various initiatives to help the poor and needy people by serving ration kits, cooked food packets and vegetables in Secunderabad Cantonment limits. With the help of aid by various donors, these good samaritans are serving vulnerable section especially the daily wage earners and slum dwellers.

T Satish Kumar, a social activist and president of Vasavi Nagar Welfare Association, ward 5 said," Soon after the lockdown, many people income got stopped and there were struggling to meet their daily needs. So I took the initiative to help those needy by distributing vegetable packets to nearly 2000 slum dweller of SCB ward 5and each house has received around 3.5 kg of vegetables. Weekly once the distribution of the vegetables is in process and distributed around 500 rations kits to the SCB slum dweller."

"From the beginning day of the lockdown, we identified nearly 400 people that include needy, sanitation workers and police officials in the SCB area and daily we are serving breakfast for them. Food is been cooked in the community kitchen at Laxmi Nagar community hall and then it is distributed. In this mission many like-minded people are helping us," said "Shravan, social activist, SCB ward 4.

"As many people's income got stopped after the lockdown and there were struggling to meet their daily needs. Our P&T Colony has taken initiative ration kits and weekly twice we are distributing around 35 packs to migrant labour and needy," Janardhan, General Secretary of P& T Colony.
