Hyderabad: Telangana government on Monday relieved Somesh Kumar from posts of Special Chief Secretary to Government, I & CAD (Full Additional Charge) and Commissioner, Land Administration, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Full Additional Charge).

These responsibilities were given to Chief Secretary S K Joshi, who would look after all activities of Irrigation department, including LA and R&R department, on Full Additional Charge basis.

It may be mentioned here that S K Joshi looked after irrigation department for a considerable period and these responsibilities were given on FAC basis to Somesh Kumar after the former's elevation as Chief Secretary.

Meanwhile, government sources stated that Somesh Kumar, who was posted as Special CS (Revenue, Excise, Stamps and Registration) after transferring Rajeshwar Tiwari, from the post was relieved of additional responsibilities of the irrigation wing so that he can fully focus on Revenue affairs. Apart from the earlier mentioned posts, Somesh is also the CCLA Commissioner (FAC) and RERA chairman.

The TRS government is bringing in a new Revenue Act and, in this backdrop, Somesh Kumar's appointment has assumed importance.

Government is likely to give him full authority to ensure strict implementation of the new Revenue Act once it comes into effect as some resistance is expected from employee associations to accept the new reforms.
