South DGPs to share database of offenders to fight crime

Hyderabad: A meeting of Southern Regional Coordination Committee was held here on Friday in which Neelamani N Raju (DGP Karnataka), Lokanath Behera (DGP Kerala), J K Tripathy (DGP Tamilnadu), D Gautam Sawang (DGP Andhra Pradesh), Ishwar Singh (DIG Puducherry) and other Staff officers from Southern States have attended the meeting.

Subodh Kumar Jaiswal (DGP Maharashtra) also attended the meeting as a special invitee as State has close borders with many Southern States.

The committee has discussed on various issues related to coordination between the States with reference to crime prevention and detection, concerns on investigation of cybercrimes etcetera.

They also discussed on the sharing database of profiles of offenders between the States, issues related to investigation of cybercrimes and I T Act, sharing of database related to drug offenders and organised crimes and criminals and foreign immigrant matters.

The panel took a decision for appointment of a nodal officer by all the States for better coordination.

It was also decided to form small functional groups for implementation of various decisions taken during the meeting. Sharing of good practices, initiatives in policing adopted in the States were presented by Telangana and other States.

Presentation by Telangana police on best practices like IT Initiatives, CCTNS, ICJS, She teams, Bharosa etcetera were also made. All officers hailed the efforts of Telangana police and appreciated their initiatives.

It was further decided to have a meeting next year for review of implementation of the decisions taken.

DGP M Mahendar Reddy, Rajiv Trivedi, Principal Secretary (Home), T Krishna Prasad, Chairman, Road Safety Authority, Additional Director General Jitender, Commissioners of Police Anjani Kumar (Hyderabad) Mahesh M Bhagawat (Rachakonda), V C Sajjanar (Cyberabad) and other senior police officials from Telangana attended the meeting.
