Speaker chides SC hostel staff over poor quality food in Kamareddy

Kamareddy: Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy spewed fire on SC welfare department officials after tasting the breakfast at SC Girls' College hostel in Banswada on Thursday.

The Speaker paid a sudden visit to the hostel during breakfast time on the day. He tasted upma and scolded the staff saying that the breakfast item was tasteless and without quality. He questioned the cook whether he prepares food in this same way in his house. 'Will your children eat this?' he questioned.

The Speaker spoke with the warden over phone, who don't stay in Banswada. Srinivas Reddy said that due to the absence of the warden, the hostel management is totally defective. He directed the warden that he should be able to come to the hostel whenever there is a need.

The Speaker told the District Collector to issue a memo to the warden, directing them to stay locally. After checking hostel rooms, toilets and other amenities, he wondered whether they can provide the same facilities to their children.

"Irrespective of caste and religions, we should treat all children like our own and ensure that they get good food and education," the Speaker stated.

The Speaker contacted the senior officials of Welfare Department over phone and explained the situation of the hostel and ordered them to take immediate action in this regard.
