Spectacular win for TRS in MPTC, ZPTC polls
Hyderabad: The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has swept the MPTC and ZPTC elections by clinching victory in all poll-bound districts in Telangana.
The main Opposition Congress and BJP, which sprang a surprise by winning three and four Lok Sabha seats respectively in the just concluded elections, failed to give a tough fight to the TRS.
The outcome of the poll results clearly indicate that the ruling party will grab ZP Chairperson and Vice Chairman posts in all 32 districts.
The Congress had to bite the dust even in TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy and senior leaders Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, A Revanth Reddy's strongholds. The three Reddy leaders won in the just concluded Lok Sabha elections.
Komatireddy's brother Mohan Reddy also lost to TRS leader B Narendar Reddy from Narketpally in Nalgonda district. Reddy is tipped to be the ZP Chairperson contender from the Congress in the elections.
The performance of the BJP was also unimpressive even in its stronghold areas in Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Adilabad districts from where the saffron party had won the Lok Sabha seats.
The Pink party has won a majority of MPTC and ZPTC seats in all the districts, which would help it in winning all the posts of ZP Chairpersons. In Siddipet, the party won 22 out of 23 ZPTC seats and 152 out of 229 MPTC seats.
In Siddipet Assembly Constituency, which is represented by its senior leader T Harish Rao, the party won five out of five ZPTC seats and in Gajwel constituency, which is represented by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the party won six out of six ZPTCs. In Rajanna Sircilla district, the party won 11 out of 12 ZPTCs and 72 out of 123 MPTCs.
Even in the TRS wave in the local body elections, the party had to face a setback in the native places of important senior leaders of the TRS.
The party candidates have lost to the rivals in the native places of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and former Nizamabad MP K Kavitha's in-laws' place.

The TRS party candidate in Chinna Mulkanoor in Chigurumamidi in Karimnagar district lost to an Independent candidate. In Kavitha's village in Pothangal, the party had to lose election against the BJP and in Santosh Kumar's village in Kodurupaka, the party candidate had to face the defeat at the hands of the Congress candidate.
In the ZPTC polls, Opposition parties did not open their account in six districts and in another six districts they won only one ZPTC.
The TRS won all the seats in Warangal (16/16), Karimnagar (15/15), Mahbubnagar (14/14), Jangaon (12/12), Gadwal (12/12) and Warangal Urban (7/7).
In the districts where the Opposition won only one seat are Siddipet (1/23), Komaram Bheem (1/15), Wanaparthy (1/14), Rajanna Sircilla (1/12) and Mulugu (1/8) seats, showing one-sided mandate by the people.
The party had won a majority of seats in the constituencies of important Congress leaders. In Huzurnagar constituency of TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, the TRS won 5 out of 7 ZPTC seats and in CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka's constituency, the TRS won 4 out of 5 seats with huge margins. The TRS is certain to get all the posts of ZP Chairpersons in the State.
