Speed violators beware! Laser guns on Wanaparthy roads
Wanaparthy: As more and more road accidents are taking place due to uncontrolled speed of moving vehicles, the Wanaparthy police have taken an initiative to control the speeding vehicles by installing laser guns at various spots on the roads to gauge the speed of vehicles and accordingly impose fines on violators.
To begin with, the Wanaparthy district superintendent Apoorva Rao installed and inaugurated a laser gun at Marrikunta village on Wanaparthy Pebbair highway on Monday. "We have taken up this initiative to control the speeding vehicles and thereby reduce accidents and deaths caused by them. The laser guns will gauge the speed of vehicles and if anyone found violating the traffic rules, they will be punished with a fine of Rs 1,400," said the SP.
The SP said the laser guns were installed on major highways. Later, it would be installed on roads connecting to villages in the rural areas.
The cost of each laser gun is Rs 9.5 lakh. She said that if anyone violates the speed limit set by the police and if trapped by the laser gun, the violator will receive a message on his mobile for his violation and will have to pay the penalty.
