Startup: Scaling new heights at SREC
Warangal: Creativity is the seed of innovation but unless it's applied and surmounted it remains just as an idea. Turning an idea into a solution that adds value from a customer's perspective were third year students of S R Engineering College (SREC).
Pursuing B Tech (Computer Science and Engineering), the students came up with an innovative product - Smart Ring, a Bluetooth device that helps blind people to make and receive calls on mobile phones and listen to the messages.
The five-member team was led by Mohammad Shairose Ahmed. The other members include B Rahul, R Amrapali, Sania Tazeen and Mohammad Riyaz. They were supported by their mentor G Sunil Reddy, assistant professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SREC.
The team registered as a Start-up MHFictio Creations Private Limited – with SRiX Technology Business Incubator, a centre for promoting entrepreneurship by facilitating technology innovators to create products or services and providing the resources required to go to market with their innovation. It started its journey as an innovative idea which was presented at "Make n Market 2.0" conducted at SREC in 2018.
The idea received 'Pioneer Award' with a cash reward Rs 15,000 at the Abhivyakta-2019, a project expo, organised at SREC on March 9, 2019, Buoyant after receiving accolades from various quarters, the Smart Ring team showcased their idea at the National Boot Camp and Exhibition organised by MHRD's Innovation Cell at All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi from September 9 to 11, 2019. The team was selected as one among the 37 teams out of 2,000 ideas presented in the exhibition.
This apart, the MHFictio Creations stood fourth by pitching its product - Smart Ring – at the World Startup Expo held at Grand Sheraton in Bengaluru. It's one among the 20 start-ups selected from 1,500 teams by Cocoon Ventures the organisation of WSE.
Speaking to The Hans India, the MHFictio Creations team said, "the product is ready for launch. The device is of immense help not only to the blind but also enticing for the gadget-savvy people." The team thanked the SREC Chairman A Varada Reddy and others for their support and encouragement in designing the device.
