Steps to improve scope of Telugu needed: MLA Laxma Reddy

Mahbubnagar: Stressing the need to improve the Telugu language and its scope for the future development, Dr C Laxma Reddy, Jadcherla MLA and former Health Minister said that Telugu language is the sweetest language and it has also been recognised as India's 6th classical language.

He addressing while taking part in a programme organised by Chandrasekhar Educational Society in Jadcherla mandal of Mahbubnagar district on Monday.

He said great Telugu poets like Nannaya, Tikkana and Yerra Pragada have further spread the scope of the language with their great literary contributions and world famous Telugu poems.

Earlier, the authorities of Chandrasekhar Education Society had organised an inter-school competition on the recitation of series of 30 most popular Telugu poems, at a programme organised in Chandra Garden function hall. As part of the competition, school students from various private, Gurukula Residential schools, Upper Primary and Zillah Parishad High schools from across Mahbubnagar district took part and recited the most popular poems.

As part of this competition, as many as 200 students from different schools competed in the poem recitation programme. Among them about 15 students were adjudged the best by leading Telugu pundit experts who acted as judges for the competition.

The students who won the top prizes in the High school level category include Praveen Kumar from Saraswathi Shishu mandir High school, Jadcherla, the second prize was bagged by Madhu from Zillah Parishad High School Pedda Adirala and the third prize was allocated to Shiva Kumar of Zillah Parishad High School Kodgal village. "It is really a great platform to see the young and budding students of various schools reciting the most popular and heart touching Telugu poems. I advise these students to learn the deep meaning of those poems and try to inculcate the true values in life," said Dr. Laxma Reddy.

Mr. Reddy felt that there is a need for further improving the Telugu language and its scope for future development. He also expressed concern that these days everybody is looking towards adopting English as their medium of study, however, if we can expand the scope of Telugu and its usage toward wider areas, definitely it will lead to more career opportunities for the students who take up Telugu as their career.

State Cultural, Music and Arts Academy Chairman Shiva Kumar, Sumudha, wife of Late Chandrasekhar, TRS Mandal President Kodgal Yadaiah, Laxmi Shankar, Govardhan Reddy, Srisailam Yadav, Irfan Ramulu, Pranil, Nagireddy, Immu, Latha and others took part in the programme.
