Stop illegal arrests: CPI in Hanamkonda
Hanamkonda: The CPI workers led by its district secretary Mekala Ravi staged a protest near Nakkalagutta water tank here on Tuesday, condemning the illegal arrests of their leaders.
Later, they burned the effigy of the State government. Ravi found fault with the government for disrupting the protest launched by their workers in support of RTC employees' indefinite strike demanding RTC merger with the government, pay hike etc.
He said that police had disrupted their leaders' protest at Ekasila Park on October 28 and took them into custody illegally.
He said that the government was trying to suppress the agitation.
"Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is behaving like a dictator. It's not fair for him to throttle the voice of Opposition, which is supporting the RTC employees' strike. KCR has no respect for democracy. The demands of RTC employees are reasonable and justifiable," Ravi said.
The TRS government is trying to protect the interests of the corporate and upper classes, he alleged, criticising KCR for not being sensitive towards RTC employees' strike.
He also alleged that the government was trying to privatise the RTC services, besides alienating assets to private persons.
Former MLA Potharaju Saraiah said that several RTC employees have committed suicide after they got demoralised by KCR's stand on strike.
Senior leader K Bikshapathi, Sk Bsha Miya, B Srinivas Julius Caesar, B ravinder, B Mallaiah, Naresh Dravid, G Prabhakar, G Badri and Dappu Ravi were among others present.
