Hanamkonda: The Kakatiya University students led by NSUI, the student wing of the Indian National Congress, took out a rally and staged protest at the varsity's first gate, demanding the State government to release the pending scholarships.

The students alleged that the government was indirectly helping the private institutions by not providing proper infrastructural facilities in the state-run universities. "The TRS government led by K Chandrashekar Rao is much like that of despotic rule of the Nizams. The government's policies are anti-student and as well as anti-farmer," the students said.

Speaking at the protest, the NSUI Warangal Urban district president D Madhukar alleged that KCR wants private universities flourish in the State. KCR doesn't like SC, ST and BC students get higher education, he added.

Even though the students have been demanding release of funds for scholarships and fee reimbursement for a long time, the government appears to be insensitive. The allocation for education sector in the State budget is disappointing, he said, accusing the government of promoting the private institutions. The TRS government's promise to provide one lakh jobs is just to hoodwink the people, he added.

The students, who took out a rally from Pothana hostel to the first gate, burnt the effigy of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. NSUI general secretary N Ajit Reddy, KU President Pasha, Naresh Reddy, Rakesh, Mahesh and Mahipal were among others present.
