Students demand drinking water in hostel in Nizamabad

Nizamabad: AISF district secretary Raghuram demanded the government immediate solution to water problem in Scheduled Tribe welfare hostels.

Aong with ST students, AISF representatives staged a dharna in front of the District Tribal Welfare Office in Nizamabad on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Raghuram said there was no drinking water in the hostels and the students were forced to bath three times a week due to water scarcity.

Alleging that food is not being served as per the menu, Raghuram said that students are often falling sick due to lack of basic facilities.

Mosquitoes are spreading diseases due to unhygienic surroundings in the hostels, which are located in remote areas in Nizamabad district, he pointed out.

About 70 students participated in the dharna. They raised slogans that "DTWO Sandhya should come and listen to their problems".

They explained all their problems to DTWO Sandhya, who assured them of doing the needful. Later they submitted a memorandum to her.
