Hanamkonda: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of students' unions staged a demonstration near Administrative Block of Kakatiya University (KU) on Tuesday, in protest against the workmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof R Sayanna, whose term is to end on July 25.

The protestors raised slogans against the V-C, accusing him of undermining the interests of students belonging to downtrodden sections. They alleged that right from the day one the admissions process of the PhD was mired in controversy. The varsity authorities made mockery of merit by carrying admissions at their whims and fancies, the students alleged.

"The V-C had even admitted that there were shortcomings in the conduct of PhD entrance test," the students said, pointing to the errors rolled in the results. They also found fault with the authorities for giving admissions in Chemistry department at a time, when the students are about to write Pre-PhD examination.

"Infringing norms, the varsity collected fee to the tune of Rs 25 crore from students," the protestors questioned, inviting the VC for a debate over the admissions. Later, the students burned the effigy of the V-C. The students also expressed dissatisfaction over police intervention during their protest.

Kalakota Suman, Lanka Rajagopal, Suryakiran of TRSV, Meda Ranjith Kumar of TGVP, Manda Bhaskar and Madhu of MSF, M Naresh of ABSF, M Kumar, Manda Shyam and Sathish of NSUI, Raju Naik, Amar Singh and Prem of TBSF were among others participated in the protest.
