Students lay siege to Welfare Minister's house
Karimnagar: Alleging that the government as well as Board of Intermediate is behaving negligently in solving the problems of the Inter students, All Student Unions' workers lay siege to the house of Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar here in Karimnagar on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the leaders alleged that even though the students wrote the examinations well, due to the mistakes committed by the Globarena company, many of them committed suicide and other are depressed mentally with minimum marks they received.
Even though the students applied for re-verification, the board is taking too much time. When this much is going on, the State government and even the Ministers are not taking any initiation for doing justice with the Intermediate students, they added.
They demanded the government to suspend the concern Education Minister and officials of Intermediate Board immediately besides giving them Rs 50 lakh as an ex gratia.
If the government behaves stubbornly, the agitations would be intensified and a fitting lesson would be taught, they warned.
Later, police officials intervened and tried to convince the students. A heated argument ensued between the police and students. The police personnel arrested the students and shifted them to the Police Training Centre. The AISF district president Machha Ramesh and secretary Manikanta Reddy and working president Dasari Kalyan, NSUI district president Muniganti Anil, PDSU district president Rathnam Ramesh, TNSF district president T Shravan, Farooq and Ram Prasad, AIYF district president Ugendar and S Samaiah took part in the protest.
