Students stage hunger strike at KU; demand 24x7 healthcare in Warangal
Warangal: The representatives of several student unions staged a one-day hunger strike on Kakatiya University campus here on Wednesday, demanding resolution of various issues faced by the varsity students. Inaugurating the protest, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) official spokesperson Kuchana Ravali said the TRS government is hellbent on diluting the State-run educational institutions.
"Even though the students have been facing several problems due to lack of infrastructural facilities, the TRS government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is least bothered about it," she said. She pointed out the deplorable status of the universities across Telangana. She demanded that the government appoint Vice-Chancellor who had fair idea of the students' problems.
Some of the demands made by the students during the protest involve regularisation of self-finance courses; 24x7 functioning of healthcare centre in the varsity; monthly medical camps for students; facilities in hostels.
