Suicide Clusters among Telangana Workers in West Asia

HYDERABAD: There has been a Suicide Cluster by Telangana worker's in the Gulf in recent times. Due to lack of opportunities and challenges are said to be the main reason behind the steep rise in the suicides. In the latest incident that had taken place, a 35 year -old worker who hails from Nizamabad, Dandugula Yellaiah, committed suicide in Muscat, Oman. His family in Ramannapet Mandal Velpoor are totally shocked to hear the shocking news that he is no more.

A cousin of Dandugula Sailu said Yelliah who was in touch with him, that he spoke with his till late in the night and the next day morning he received the news of his death. Little did we expect that he would take such a drastic step, he told the sources. Yelliah was working as a watchman in a construction firm for the last two years.

Emigrants 'Welfare Forum president M Bheem Reddy wrote to the ambassador in Oman Munu Mahawar on the death of Yelliah and requested that the mortal remains be sent back to India. Bheem Reddy told the sources that he received a response from the ministry of external affairs that the embassy had got in touch with the company that Yelliah had been working for and once the documents are cleared, the body would be repatriated.

There had been several suicides reported by Telangana workers in the Gulf in recent months. Life in Gulf is not all that easy due to several reasons. The number of suicides is increasing as workers may not even be able to tell others what they are going through " Bheem said.
