Warangal: Sumarg, a free coaching programme to prepare youth appearing for the competitive exams, yielded stupendous success, Commissioner of Police V Ravinder said.

Felicitating the youth who were benefited by the Sumarg in clinching jobs here on Monday, the Commissioner said that in a bid to provide free coaching to the poor and downtrodden youth, they have initiated the programme. It may be mentioned here that the Sumarg was initiated three years ago by the then Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu to fulfil the employment dreams of those less fortunate, engaging subject experts from Hyderabad.

Ravinder said that they have selected 300 candidates for the training and of which 254 have got jobs, predominantly in the Police Department. He said that of those who availed coaching, 40 have clinched sub-inspector posts, 165 constables and 49 in other Central and State government jobs.

"Jobs to more than 80 per cent of those who availed coaching under Sumarg is indeed a great achievement. The programme has proved that if given a proper training the youth irrespective of their economic and social status are capable of achieving success," Ravinder said.

Come what may, work sincerely and make your department proud by helping the poor, he advised the new recruits. The Commissioner thanked the Kakatiya University (KU) and Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation administrations for extending their support in organising Sumarg programme successfully. He also commended the efforts of ACP Sadanandam, RSI Sampath Kumar, head constables Odelu Yadav and Srinivas for their services in conducting Sumarg programme.

Speaking on the occasion, KU Registrar Prof K Purushotham Sumarg programme helped many youth achieve their dreams. The police have now created a sense of affinity among the people by implementing friendly policing.

Later, the Commissioner gave away certificates of appreciation to the new recruits. Additional (AR) DCP Giriraj, ACP Sridhar, KU inspector David Raju and Police Officers Association president Ashok Kumar were among others present.
