Hyderabad: The TRS has finalised the names of its Parliamentary Party leader K Keshava Rao and former Speaker K R Suresh Reddy as party candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections.

With this, the party will be having seven MPs in the Upper House. With the selection of Suresh Reddy, the party will now have a representation from this community in the Rajya Sabha.

The election is just a formality and both the candidates would be elected unanimously since the party has 101 MLAs out of 119 in the State Assembly. Both these candidates would be filing their nominations on Friday.

There were many leaders in the race. It was even felt that KCR would announce the names of the candidates on Thursday and it would include the name of K Kavitha so that she would be able to file her nomination on Friday which happens to be her birthday, the party chief according to a senior leader said that KCR had struck a balance in the giving representation to different communities in the Rajya Sabha.

Now the Upper House will have one each from Velama community (J Santhosh Kumar), Brahmin (Captain V Laxmikantha Rao), Yadav (B Lingaiah Yadav), Mudiraj (B Prakash) and two BCs Keshava Rao and D Srinivas and Suresh Reddy from Reddy community.
