Suryapet: Mentally ill woman bludgeons husband to death

Suryapet: A mentally-ill woman bludgeoned her husband to death at Modinapuram village of Chivemla mandal in the district on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Kaki Venkat Reddy (51), a farmer.

According to sources, the couple, Venkat Reddy and his wife Indira, have a son and a daughter, who are studying in another town. Indira, a ration dealer, has been using medicines referred by the Erragadda mental hospital doctors since 2016 as she has been suffering from some mental illness. Indira used to quarrel with her husband over petty issues.

However, on Tuesday night, Indira dropped a boulder on Venkat Reddy's head who sleeping in an open place on the basement of a under construction house. Venkat Reddy succumbed to the bleeding head injuries he suffered in the incident. Villagers who came to know about the incident on Wednesday morning informed the same to the local police.

Suryapet rural CI Srinivas along with SI Ibrahim visited the spot and handed over the dead body to kin after post-mortem at Government hospital in Suryapet. Chivemla police registered a case based on the complaint by deceased man's son and took up the investigation.
