Suryapet sanctions 10 L for making of clay Ganesha idols

Suryapet: The Suryapet district administration is gearing up to celebrate the upcoming Ganesh Chathurthi festival sans any pollution and has been encouraging the people to use the Ganesha idols made of clay instead of idols made of plaster of paris that harm the environment and the water bodies in the district.

Minister for Education Jagadish Reddy who took the initiation in propagating the use of clay Ganesha idols has sanctioned Rs 10 lakh to the manufacturers of clay idols through the Backward Classes Corporation recently. BC Welfare Officer Jyothi informed that to encourage the installation of clay idols, Rs 10 lakh was sanctioned to the manufacturers from the Commission's Crucial Balance Fund.

Speaking to The Hans India, Jyothi informed that the amount was sanctioned to a group of mater trainers of pot-making community across the district and idols manufactured by them would be distributed to people at free of cost on the eve of Ganesh Chathruthi to celebrate the festival in an eco-friendly manner in the district.
