Suryapet, Vikarabad, Nalgonda & Narayanpet record new corona positive cases
Hyderabad: On the eve of high-power committee to meet on Wednesday to consider more relaxations, Telangana registered a surge in corona positive cases in four districts -- Suryapet, Vikarabad, Nalgonda and Narayanpet.
These districts have been corona free for last two weeks. With this, the overall state tally is on verge of touching 2,000 mark. On Tuesday alone, 71 new cases were recorded in the state. One new case was confirmed in each of these four districts, according to the state health department bulletin on Tuesday.
Apart from the above four districts, GHMC limits registered 38 new cases while in Ranga Reddy it was seven and Medchal six cases.
Officials said 12 migrants and four expats who returned from abroad were among those who found to be infected with the virus. For the last few days, migrants and foreign returnees were testing positive to the virus and this trend continued even on Tuesday. Health department said that of the 71 cases, 16 cases were that of migrants and expats who got the infection elsewhere but was detected here.
As far as Suryapet case is concerned, a woman with chronic disease history visited Osmania hospital for treatment. She had related symptoms. When tested, she was found to be positive. The district health officials were alerted to take required measures. In Vikarabad, a person from Jiyaguda attended a family function in Shadnagar a few days ago.
He developed symptoms and went to King Koti hospital and tested positive. The district officials concerned located the address in Shadnagar and identified some of his relatives, including children who attended the function and had virus symptoms. They would be sent to Hyderabad for further assessment and sample testing, district officials said.
