Swachh staff cry out for minimum wages

Hayat Nagar: Swachh workers (scavengers) working in various government schools in Abdullapurmet and Hayat Nagar mandals staged a protest here before Hayat Nagar Mandal office on Wednesday.

They said most of them have been working in schools for more than 15 years, but they get a meagre salary of Rs 2,500 per month.

Moreover, they have not received the salaries for the last four months, they lamented.

They work for more than nine hours every day but get meagre salaries and appealed the state government for implementation of minimum wages, which is Rs 18,000 pm.

They demanded the government to issue them identity cards and recognize them as government employees.
