Take action against doctors, hospitals who denied medical aid to pregnant woman: Telangana High Court
The High Court Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy heard two similar public interest litigations on Thursday filed by Advocate Sreenitha and K Kishore Kumar, seeking a direction to take stringent action against all those doctors who denied medical aid to the pregnant Woman Jenila from Jogulamba Gadwal District, who succumbed along with her baby boy, after she was denied admission.
The Division Bench observed the counter affidavit filed by the State government that a large number of ambulances have been placed on the National highways and State highways. The Bench opined that the State has sufficiently complied with the orders of the High Court. Moreover, G.O.No.239, dated June 9, has been issued with regard to the alleged negligence committed by the doctor in Mahabubnagar. Similarly, other GOs have been issued against such doctors who have allegedly resorted to negligence in not admitting the patient Jenila in the hospital.
The Bench is satisfied with the action taken by the State government in dealing with the issue, the Court has also opined that the State Government should consider whether those hospitals and those Doctors who had refused admission to Jenila who died due to medical negligence of the hospital should be dealt with a criminal case registering against them, against the hospital or not is left open to the government. With these directions, the court closed the two PILs.
