Take up road repair works on war footing basis: Mayor tells officials
Hyderabad: GHMC Mayor Dr. Bonthu Rammohan on Monday directed the officials to take up the repair of roads, which were damaged due to incessant rains in the city for the past five days, on war footing basis.
The Mayor, along with GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore, HMRL Managing Director N.V.S.Reddy and other officials, inspected all along the route from Gandhi Hospital to RTC Cross Roads by walk and instructed the officials to take up repairs works immediately. Speaking on the occasion, he said there were around 4000 potholes on city roads and they would be filled once the rain stops. He said one day tenders were being called to take up the repair of damaged roads and works would start by Wednesday.
About Rs. 5 Crores have been allocated to repair the road works all along the of HMR routes where works are in progress in the city, HMR MD NVS Reddy said. Further, he said repair works would be taken up on priority basis from Secunderabad Station to Mahatma Gandhi Bus Terminal and other routes where HMR works are going on.
Speaking on the occasion, the GHMC Commissioner said that to take the repair works immediately, higher officials have been drafted from Each Zonal and Circles offices to supervise the works.
