Tamilisai to take oath on Sept 8 as new Governor

Hyderabad: Newly appointed Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan will be sworn in as the first woman Governor of Telangana at Raj Bhavan on September 8 at 11 am just a day ahead of the commencement of the budget session of the Assembly.

Raj Bhavan authorities are making elaborate arrangements for her swearing-in ceremony. Telangana High Court Chief Justice R S Chouhan will administer the oath of office to Soundararajan, who will replace the incumbent ESL Narasimhan.

Apart from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the Assembly Speaker, ministers and top bureaucrats will attend the ceremony. Interestingly, apart from participating in the swearing-in ceremony of the Governor, the Chief Minister, at his first official meeting with the new Governor, will also present her the budget proposals to be presented in the Assembly on September 9 and seek her approval.

The Assembly session is likely to be held for four or five days. A final decision in this regard will be taken by the Business Advisory Committee.
