TDP leaders met Union Minister G Kishan Reddy
Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy said that he will take up the issue of former Andhra Pradesh State Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao committing suicide with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The minister's assurance has come when former TDP MLA Giridhar and former MLA Alapati Rajendra Prasad submitted a representation here on Tuesday, seeking the union government's intervention on the deteriorating law and order in the State and ruling party resorting to a political vendetta against its opponents by foisting false cases.
Kishan Reddy said that the ministry is receiving some complaints on the Andhra Pradesh government saying "police there are working at the behest of the ruling party and we are looking into it."
The TDP leaders in their representation alleged that the sufferings of the people are increasing day by day in the State and false cases are being foisted against the political opponents.
They further alleged that the ruling party legislators have taken the law into their hands and harassing the people and directing the police to register cases against the people who are affected by the illegal acts of ruling party members. "The victims are unable to sustain the torture of the ruling dispensation and need your kind intervention to protect democracy in the state of Andhra Pradesh", they said.
Listing out the number of cases foisted against the former speaker and his family members they claimed all these humiliations have led Kodela to resort to an extreme strep. They also urged for a CBI inquiry into the death of Kodela. The TDP leaders requested the minister's intervention for stopping harassment of family members of Kodela by the ruling party government.
Kishan Reddy assured the TDP leaders that he will seek a clarification from the DGP and the chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh and call for a comprehensive report on the incident of the suicide of Kodela.
Adding, he said "irrespective of those in the ruling they should not take the law into their hands. Being in government is not permanent but those in the government should protect the integrity of the institutions."
