Teachers play truant; Speaker loses cool in Banswada

Banswada: Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy came down heavily on teachers and warned of taking severe action against them if they neglect their duties.

He made a surprise visit to Minority Residential School in Borlam village of Banswada mandal in Kamareddy district on Wednesday. He was surprised and also became furious as the students, who were sitting idle, told the Speaker that teachers are absent almost every day.

When the Speaker enquired the school staff and locals why nine teachers were absent, they replied that there are 18 teachers working in the school and they never saw full attendance of the teachers.

Later the Speaker suggested the staff to serve the mid-day meal as per the menu as the growing children needs nutritious food. He spent quality time with the students, having fun and also told them not to make bad habits and to walk on the right path.
