Teachers shape pupils life : Hanamkonda

Hanamkonda: The onus is on teachers to shape the students face any kind of situation in their lives with utmost ease, School of Distance Learning and Continuing Education (SDLCE) of Kakatiya University (KU) Director Prof Guguloth Veeranna said. Speaking at the Freshers' Party organised by the students, who recently-joined the two-year B Ed (distance mode) course here on Thursday, he said that teachers are responsible for more than just academic enrichment of the students.

"Apart from producing industry-ready grads, the emphasis should also be on teaching students the important life lessons that help them succeed beyond academic examinations," Prof Veeranna said, referring to the importance of teacher-pupil relationship.

Quoting Kothari Commission excerpt – "The destiny of our country is being shaped in our classrooms", he said that a great teacher makes learning fun. Students learn best if the classroom environment is exciting. Motivating students is not an easy job, but a teacher alone can do it.

"Enhance the experience of students when you teach them in the classrooms," Prof Veeranna told those pursuing B Ed. He said that SDLCE is imparting quality education on par with the best in the business. Retired professor K Padmalatha told the students to focus on what they are learning instead of academic interest to get a certificate.

The meeting was presided over by Dr Bhukya Devender in which SDLCE press and media in-charge Dr Sangala Ephraim Raj, Dr V Jagan, course coordinator S Bikshapathi, P Buchi Reddy, Hamim Sultana, Srinivas, scholars Sabitha, B Srilatha, Geetanjali, Sitaram and Ramesh were present.
