Telangana: 14 bullocks, three oxen die of electric shock in Mancherial
With the electric wires being snapped and fell in the agriculture fields, 14 bullocks and three oxen electrocuted after coming in contact with the live wires. The incident happened in outskirts of Elkeshwaram village of Bhimaram mandal on Tuesday.
K Srinivas, assistant engineer of Northern power distribution company limited, Bheemaram said that an electric line meant for domestic use collapsed on the three-phase line which snapped and fell in the fields due to the strong gales. The bulls and oxen which are grazing in the fields came in contact with the wires and died of electric shock. The officials of the electricity department visited the spot and launched a probe.
The officials said that the investigation has been launched and the compensation will be provided to the farmers soon. Meanwhile, the farmers appealed to the officers to repair electric wires that snapped due to the strong winds. They also asked to ensure not to recur such incidents in future.
The cattle is said to be belonging to nine farmers, a native of Elkeshwaram village.
