Telangana: 68 doctors tested positive for coronavirus so far
Telangana: As many as 68 doctors including 41 doctors from Osmania Medical College, 12 from Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), four from Gandhi Hospital, three dental students and eight paramedical staff have been tested positive for coronavirus in the state till date.
Coronavirus cases among the PG students of Osmania Medical college have seen a rise after a female medico (Gynaecology department) who was on duty at Petla Burj maternity hospital tested positive. Most of the infected students were hostelers. Even the canteen staffer displayed coronavirus-like symptoms was shifted to a hospital and was later tested positive.
Telangana Junior Doctors' Association (TJUDA) alleged that PG students who have been working in the outpatient (OP) department of Osmania General Hospital (OGH) lack safety measures. They demanded the government to give away PPE to all the doctors working in the hospitals.
On Friday, the Telangana state reported 143 coronavirus positive cases and eight fatalities. Besides, the GHMC area, cases are also on a rise in Rangareddy, Mahbubnagar, Warangal and Khammam districts.
