Telangana: 7 journalists test positive for coronavirus in Warangal
As many as seven journalists from Warangal urban district have tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday. The seven journalists were among 125 who underwent coronavirus tests.
According to the district medical and health officer, Dr K Lalitha Devi, all the seven were asymptomatic. Out of them, five were shifted to MGM hospital in Warangal and two others were put under home quarantine.
It is learned that the health department conducted the tests to the journalists upon their request at the Warangal press club on Saturday and Sunday. And seven were tested positive. However, the cases have not included in the media bulletin released on Wednesday night. As per the bulletin, only three cases were included from Warangal urban.
On learning the journalists being infected with the virus, Warangal press club president Tumma Sridhar Reddy requested the minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao to take good care of the journalists.
With the seven cases, a total of 67 journalists have been infected so far with coronavirus. Meanwhile, the state on Wednesday reported 891 new cases including 719 from Hyderabad, 86 from Rangareddy, 55 from Medchal and rest of them from other districts.
