Telangana: 90-year-old man, diagnosed with TB abandoned in Bhupalpally
In an inhuman act, a 90-year-old man, diagnosed with tuberculosis was abandoned near Bobbala Cheruvu in the forest on the outskirts of Bhupalpally town on Tuesday. Passersby who heard the groans from the bushes alerted one Shyam Prasad, founder of a voluntary organisation called Amrutha Varshini.
The elderly man is said to have been brought in a vehicle and dumped in the forest area. Upon being alerted, Shyam Prasad rushed to the place and alerted the ambulance after which, the man was taken to a hospital.
The 90-year-old, identified as Edulapuram Venkat Narayana is a native of Kasimpally village in Bhupalpally Mandal of district. The man used to work as drum beater to earn a livelihood, however, he was living on the alms given by devotees at a temple in the town for the past six years.
The man is said to have no family and according to sources, locals abandoned him in the forest 10 days ago after learning about his disease.
