Telangana Assembly Pays Tribute to Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh

The Telangana Assembly's special session began on a solemn note as members paid tribute to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Hon'ble Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy introduced a heartfelt condolence resolution in the Telangana Legislative Assembly following the passing of Dr. Singh, calling his death an immense loss to the nation. He praised Dr. Singh for his transformative economic reforms and policies that reshaped India.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also honored Dr. Singh as a key ally of Telangana, recognizing his crucial role in the formation of the state. Revanth Reddy stated, “The formation of Telangana was realized during Dr. Manmohan Singh's tenure as Prime Minister. His efforts in the statehood process were unparalleled, and his leadership in steering the nation’s economic policies on the global stage remains unmatched.”

Honouring Dr. Singh’s legacy, Reddy credited him with introducing landmark legislations like the Right to Information Act and the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, which have had a transformative impact on the nation. He further emphasized Dr. Singh’s commitment to progress, undeterred by criticism, and described him as a leader who worked tirelessly with humility and vision.

Revanth Reddy proposed a resolution recommending Dr. Singh for the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, in recognition of his invaluable contributions. He also announced plans to install a statue of Dr. Singh in Hyderabad's Financial District as a lasting tribute to his role in the state's formation and his enduring impact on the country.

The Chief Minister shared his personal interactions with Dr. Singh’s family, recounting how his wife expressed Dr. Singh's deep affection for Telangana. She had reportedly encouraged Reddy to work hard, assuring him of Dr. Singh’s blessings.

The session reflected the Assembly's heartfelt homage to a leader who played a crucial role in shaping Telangana’s future and strengthening India’s democratic framework.
