Telangana cabinet likely to privatise bus routes to villages
Amidst the protest by the TSRTC workers who are trying to resume their duties, the Telangana cabinet meeting today has gained significance. The Chief Minister is said to be discussing the concerns of the TSRTC workers and likely to make a decision today.
In the two-day cabinet meeting on November 28 and 29, the Telangana government will be discussing the TSRTC strike on the first day. It is learned that the government is planning to suspend permanent positions and also to announce the routes to be made private. The bus routes leading to villages are likely to be privatised. However, it is yet to be decided by the cabinet today.
Out of 10,460 bus routes under 364 stations and 97 bus depots, the routes leading to villages are said to be in loss. The government is planning to release notification on the routes that will be privatised and invite objections over it. After going through the objections received, the government will take a final call.
In case of the delay in the process, the government will issue a temporary permit on private routes.
