Telangana: Coronavirus cases surge at rocket speed
Hyderabad: Lockdown relaxations are proving to be costly in Telangana's case as the State has reported a mammoth 5104 new cases just in a span of 21 days.
After Unlock 1.0 from June 1, the virus spread in the State, especially in the GHMC limits is shocking to say the least. The Overall Covid tally which was 2698 on June 1 has now shot up to 7802 as on June 21 and still 10 days are left in this month.
At this rate, the month of June will report the highest cases so far beating the Covid figures reported from March to May comfortably.
Also with each passing day Telangana is recording the season's highest number of new cases. Continuing the trend from the last few days, 730 fresh cases were reported in the State with GHMC accounting for a very high 659 cases of them. This was also the GHMC's single highest day tally. With a surge in cases the overall Covid tally of the State rose to 7,802. Also seven deaths were reported pushing the total deaths so far to 210.
After GHMC, Jangaon recorded the second highest day tally of 34 cases. In all 17 districts contributed to the day's tally in the last 24 hours.
More number of cases are coming to light with ramping of tests in five districts including GHMC. 3,297 sample tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
After a dull start when only over 1000 samples were collected in the special drive, more than 3000 samples each were collected in the last three days leading to spike in cases.
