Telangana: Elderly couple set alcoholic son afire in Warangal

An elderly couple set their alcoholic son on fire here at Mustyalapalli of Damera mandal of Warangal rural district on Tuesday night. The deceased, Mahesh Chandra has a 15-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son.

Getting into details, Mahesh Chandra's wife left him two months ago after unable to bear his harassment. However, later he started harassing his daughter and son for money to consume alcohol. On Tuesday, Mahesh picked up a quarrel with his parents for money who in a fit of rage doused him with petrol and burnt alive.

Mahesh succumbed to serious burn injuries on the spot. Damera SI Bhaskar Reddy inspected the spot and shifted the body to a government hospital for post-mortem.

The police also took Mahesh's parents into custody and launched a probe.
