Telangana formation day 2020, a low-key affair in state this year
Telangana formation day 2020: Telangana, one among the most coronavirus affected states in the country has opted for low-key celebrations on the state formation day this year, first time ever since 2014.
Since the formation of Telangana, the ruling TRS party held the celebrations on a grand note across the state. Special cultural programmes with noted personalities in various dances from all over the countries, cultural fetes reflecting the culture and tradition of the state used to be organised every year. Apart from the parade grounds, celebrations were also carried out at Ravindra Bharati, tank bund and other places. Last year, Hyderabad city was all decked up with festive lighting ready to celebrate the day. Unfortunately, this year there would be no such grand celebrations due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The day signifies the sustained Telangana Movement history through the years for a separate state. State every year sponsors several events. Telangana State Awards for exemplary contributions in different fields are presented at different events. At several Hotels, Telangana food festivals are organised, and so on.
However, the celebrations this year have been kept low-key due to the coronavirus pandemic. No merit awards for officials and talented persons will be given this year. And the celebrations will be held in the district collectorate in the presence of the speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy. Educational Institutions and government offices would celebrate the Telangana formation day by hoisting the national flag adhering to the norms.
On the occasion of the sixth formation day of Telangana, speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy extended wishes to the public. He reviewed the arrangements being made for the state formation day tomorrow.
