Telangana Govt is committed to development and welfare of tribals: Srinivas Goud

Mahbubnagar: Excise Minister Srinivas Goud while taking part in a programme in Mahbubnagar said that the TRS government is committed to the welfare and development of tribal communities in the State.

The Minister who unveiled the statue of Santh Sevalal marking the 281st birth celebration of the tribal guru at Ayyappa Gutta, enumerated various programmes and schemes launched for the welfare and development of tribals across the State during the past 6 years after formation of Telangana State.

Earlier, the Minister also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a Temple for Santh Sevalal Maharaj, in a 200 square yard plot on the hill top of Ayyappa Konda in Mahbubnagar and called up on the people of Tribal communities and Tribal leaders to get united under one umbrella and strengthen themselves so that they can achieve many more successes in the near future.

The Minister said it is only the TRS government led by the able leader KCR, who fulfilled almost all the promises it made for tribals. The TRS government is the first government in the entire India, that has decided to celebrate the birth anniversary of Santh Sevalal officially and every year the government is funding the week-long birth celebrations of the spiritual guru by conducting various activities.

"During the 70 years of Congress and TDP rule in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, tribals were never given priority. They were just used as vote banks and later were neglected. However, soon after formation of the new State of Telangana, the government recognised the tribal guru Santh Sevalal who had strived hard to bring reforms in the tribal communities and united them together to protect their culture, language and traditional rituals.

Continuing the tribal tradition, the TRS party has decided to celebrate the birth anniversary of Santh Sevalal every year officially and granting funds for the same," said the Minister. He also said that the state government established 50 gurukula schools and 22 residential degree colleges for tribals across the state. The state government is spending Rs. 1.25 lakhs per each students studying in these residential educational institutions.

He also said that all the Tribal Thandas have been linked with the main highways with BT roads and better transportation facilities have been put in place. Adding further he said each and every tribal household is being given individual household taps where in safe drinking water is being provided through taps.

He said that for the construction of a Tribal Residential Hostel in Mahbubnagar district the government has sanctioned Rs 12 crores and by the next birth anniversary of Santh Sevalal the government will give Rs. 10 lakhs for the construction of a Temple and a meditation centre on the Ayyappa Konda in the district.
