Telangana health dept. on alert on new coronavirus strain

The state health department has been put on high alert over the new strain of coronavirus that was detected in the United Kingdon. The department secretary said that arrangements like setting up of special wards and ambulances have been made at COVID-19 centres.

Also, the special wards have been set up in government general hospitals in all the districts. The secretary said that those who arrived from the UK and have tested positive are being given treatment in special rooms.

The in-charge of the health and medical department also advised the officials to put the family on surveillance if a person tests positive for the virus.

Ever since the new strain of virus detected in the UK, the Telangana government got the list of all passengers who arrived in Telangana in the last seven days to check the virus spread. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad airport authorities initiated strict surveillance measures to curb the spread of a new strain of coronavirus which is said to be spreading rapidly.

In the wake of the new coronavirus strain, the Indian government on Monday suspended all the flights from and to the UK until December 31.
