On one side, private schools are demanding fee hike while on the other, parents are saying they cannot afford the hiked fee, the bench said and directed the State government to look into this issue amicably and deal with the matter.

Prof Tirupati Rao Committee had submitted its report on December 2017 itself, yet even after three years, no action had been taken on the committee report by the government, the bench said.

The Education Department cannot sit silent, and has to respond and settle the matter, the bench opined.

The bench asked the Advocate General to respond on this issue and to give a report on what action the State government has taken on the issue.

Meanwhile, Advocate General B S Prasad requested the court to give some time to come with a full report.

The case has been adjourned till Wednesday for further hearing.
