Telangana IPS officer Vinoy Kumar Singh (VK Singh), who is currently serving as the director of Telangana State Police Academy (TSPA) has announced his quitting the services.

VK Singh on Wednesday wrote to union home ministry seeking voluntary retirement. He said that he was unhappy with the treatment meted out to him from the government and announced his retirement in November 2020. It may be recalled that VK Singh had written a letter to Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar a month ago for not giving promotion to 1987 batch IPS officers from Additional director general of police (ADGP) rank to the director-general of police rank.

"With great hope of changing the police system, I joined police services. I think the Telangana government has not been impressed much with my services. My advice to improve the services in the government has also not inspired the government. I think I should not be a burden on the government and government should not be burdened with worthless people," he said in the letter.

He further made an appeal to the union ministry to allow him to retire on October 2 i.e, on Gandhi Jayanti, a month before his scheduled retirement.

VK Singh has brought qualitative reforms in police training. He made fieldwork and stay in villages mandatory. Sources close to Singh said that he was upset after the government denied promotion to the rank of Director General of Police.
