Telangana: KCR Apathbandhu scheme to empower women, youth
Hyderabad: Focussing on empowerment of women and self-employment for youth, the state government is going to launch KCR Apathbandhu scheme.
Under the scheme, the BC Welfare Department will identify poor women and will provide sewing machines and the unemployed youth will be given ambulance vehicles to be run on hire basis.
The department will implement the scheme on pilot basis in every district. Five youth will be given an ambulance in every district. Similarly, 10,000 women from each district will be trained in tailoring and will be given sewing machines. The National Institute of Fashion Technology will offer training in tailoring and embroidery to the beneficiaries.
The modalities to implement the scheme were finalised at a high-level meeting held by BC Welfare Minister G Kamalakar on Thursday.
Officials said that special budget provision under the Most backward Classes (MBC) development will be made for the new scheme in the new budget 2020-21 outlay.
After successful conduct of the pilot project, matching grant from all welfare departments will also be provided for the regular implementation of the scheme.
