Telangana: Lord Mahavir statue unearthed in Karimnagar

Jain monk Vardhamana Mahavir's statue was unearthed at Kotlanarasimhulapalli of Gangadhara Mandal in Karimnagar district on Saturday.

According to the officials of Archaeology Department, the statue was found in the agricultural land of Oggu Anjaiah while he was ploughing the land with a tractor. Anjaiah said that he was tilling the land on the arrival of monsoon when he found the statue.

With the news of statue being found, Sarpanch Thota Kavitha and villagers offered prayers to the Jain monk statue. The sarpanch later informed the Archaeology Department officials who are inspecting the idol.

In 2018, the statue of Jain monk Parshvanatha was found in the same place.
